Q. The flag for my listing is not showing up in the correct spot on the map; can I move it to the correct location?
A. Yes, PropertyBook has a unique mapping feature to accommodate this annoying little problem. It happens frequently when you are loading rural properties or new construction in new unmapped neighbourhoods. When you are loading a property you MUST enter the correct postal code. If the resulting flag on the map is not in the correct location, simply zoom in or out and move the map using the small arrow keys to the desired location. Place your cursor on the map, exactly where you would like the flag to appear – click and the flag will jump to that spot. If you don’t get it right the first time, just move your cursor and click again.
Q. I have a lakefront listing in a small town in cottage country. The name of the town is not recognizable but the name of the Lake is very well known. Can I use the Lake name instead of the town name for this listing?
A. Yes, absolutely! You will still need to put in the correct postal code for the area and when asked for the City, type in the name of the Lake. It will be added to our database. Be sure to edit the flag on the map to ensure that it is in the exact spot of the property.
When people are searching on the Find a Property page, the Lake name will show up along with other cities, towns and areas under the appropriate province.
Q. When I enter the taxes on my listing, I get a zero – what am I doing wrong?
A. When you enter the Property Tax field, simply enter the dollars, no dollar signs, commas, periods or pennies. You do not need to add a taxation year; people will assume it is the most recent information available.
Q. The size of my lot is coming up with the shortform for inches “ after it. What am I doing wrong?
A. When you enter the lot width and depth, you are only required to put the numbers and decimal if partial feet – for example 67.5 feet should be entered as 67.5 and will be displayed as 67.5’ in the field.
Q. My professional photo is very large – should I resize it before loading?
A. Yes, you will get an error message if it is very large. Resize it to around 700 pixels wide and you should be fine. If you have any problems, just send the photo to photos@propertybook.ca and we’ll take care of it for you.
Q. What kind of photo files can I upload?
A. The best files to use are JPEG’s with a .jpg extension.
